
Types
Based on the designs and applications alnico pot magnets are ctegorized into following types:
- Alnico Deep Pot Magnet
- Alnico Shallow Pot Magnet
- Alnico Magnetic Holdfast
- Alnico Magnetic Foot
Alnico pot magnet is a deep cylindrical permanent magnet which are assembled in a mild steel pot using spacers like Aluminum or Copper. The working temperature of this magnet is around 250° C. Outer surface except pole can be either painted or coated with Zinc, Nickel or Chrome. Assembly of the magnet and correct spacing are achieved by the use force-fitted aluminium ring . While working above 200°C, precaution must be taken of possible mechanical loosening through expansion and contraction of the component parts.

Alnico shallow pot magnets are designed for application where height is too restricted for conventional deep pot magnets. Alnico pot magnets are assembled in a mild steel pot by spacer. The working temperature of these magnets are very high that is above 250°C.
These magnets are fabricated to meet the demand for high grip magnets where height is too restricted for deep pots.
Alnico Magnet Holdfast
Magnet holdfast are designed for workhandling where positive grip is required without attraction. Some types of holdfast magnets are equipped with a screw down handle because of their exceptionally strong grip. They are suitable for high temperature conditions and their outer surface are coated or painted with Zinc, Nickel or Chrome.
Applications
- Holdfast magnets can be used as small lifting magnets.
- In jigs and fixtures and to hold work pieces during wire cutting.
Alnico foot magnets comprises of a rectangular block having two pot type magnets encased in a small steel cabinet. These magnets are most suitable for gripping applications. The mild steel housing makes the magnet suitable for drilling and tapping operation in most locations. Alnico magnetic foot are suitable for working in high temperatures. The magnet has a polarity oriented to the north in the center of holding face. Each magnet is provided with a coated keeper.
